WoW patch 9.1 is already almost a week old, which means: More and more players reach the fourth summoning beast in the faction The Archivist 's Codex and thus unlock the Mark of the Chained Isle Craftsman. But what exactly is that all about? We have the answer for you now.

(Preliminary) best-in-slot equipment or gap filler?

Once you have unlocked the recipe for the Chained Isle Artisan Mark, you will be able to craft this mark to use as an optional reagent. The recipe itself costs 2,500 Catalogued Research (available from Archivist Roh-Suir ), and one Mark costs 15 Orboreal Shards

to craft. Items made with the mark will then be item level 230, and you will be able to make a variety of armour, necklaces and rings.

You determine the secondary attributes as usual by writing inscribers. Rings and necklaces made in this way also have socket slots. The catch is that because these items are labeled "Unique Attachable," you can only attach one crafted item at a time. You do, however, have the option to buy and sell these items in the Auction House.

Given the restriction on creating crafted items, you have to ask yourself: is it worth it to buy or craft these items? Basically, at the beginning of patch 9.1, items at level 230 are probably a potential upgrade for most slots for now. However, better items will become available from various sources fairly soon in Patch 9.1.

So you should carefully consider whether investing in these items is worth it for you in the long run. If you expect to be able to get a better item or one comparable to the craftable item elsewhere (raid, mythic+, etc.) in the near future, don't spend your gold. The ring still offers the most value with its base slot, similar to the necklace (although you'll soon be able to bag a comparable item here in Tazavesh).

Our conclusion: Crafting items with the Chained Isle Craftsman's Mark, or buying such items, is probably most worthwhile in the long run for Twinks or when you want or need to boost a particularly weak slot in the short term.
