WoW Shadowlands: How you can continue to use the WoD heirlooms

Because Blizzard is fundamentally turning the leveling experience upside down in WoW: Shadowlands, the heirlooms will also have to accept some changes : The level bonus of the items will be dropped and replaced by other bonuses instead. Until now, it was unclear what would happen to the heirloom weapons and trinkets in Shadowlands that players were able to pick up during Warlords of Draenor and Mists of Pandaria in the Siege of Orgrimmar raid at Garrosh Hellscream and from Mythic dungeons.

As Wowhead reports, players who have obtained these heirlooms during Warlords of Draenor and Mists of Pandaria can now use them much earlier than before: While we were previously only allowed to use the Garrosh heirloom weapons at level 90, this level restriction no longer applies in Shadowlands. Then we can use the heirlooms directly from level 1. This also applies to the Trinkets from the Mythic dungeons, which were previously only usable from level 100.

The benefit of this innovation is that Garrosh weapons have two sockets for gems and a socket bonus - both of which are powerful additions that should also prove useful in Shadowlands during the leveling phase (even though Blizzard has since removed experience gems from the game). The trinkets from the Mythic dungeons, on the other hand, have special triggering effects and bonus damage against demons.

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to capture the weapons and Trinkets from Draenor and Pandaria - they are reserved for players who unlocked them during the Warlords of Draenor and Mists of Pandaria expansions
