Update 7/22 10:15am: Yesterday, after several very close attempts, Pieces finally took World 3rd, congratulations. About five hours later, BDGG was also victorious and can call themselves the 4th best guild in the world in this tier. Method, Aversion, Impact, and FatSharkYes are still wrestling for 5th place. Behind them are just two guilds with 8/10 and four guilds with 7/10, still slipping into the top 20 in the world with 6/10. So the tier is pretty heavy as you can see.

Update 7/21 11:20am: Limit decided to go for a Mythic clear to start their ID and then go straight back to knocking down Sylvanas. They pick up the World 2nd, congrats!

As of now, BDGG, Method, Pieces, Aversion, and Impact are five guilds fighting it out for a prestigious third place in the World First race.

Update 1:03pm: Echo makes a clean sweep, becoming the first guild in the world to defeat Sylvanas in Mythic mode.

Update 10:22 a.m.: Limit had countless close calls, but around 3 a.m. they let it go - the concentration isn't there after nearly 18 hours of raiding. Now they're waiting for their reset, which as I said is at 5pm our time. Meanwhile, Echo has their chance to make it clear today.

Update 7/20 9:45am: It's just before 3am for Limit. Seventeen hours they've been at Sylvanas on Day 7. They know they still have to beat the boss in their ID, otherwise Echo could make it all clear today. The US servers reset at 5pm our time. However, if Echo doesn't make it today either, Limit is assured of the kill after the reset.

Here's how you can follow the World First Race

altUpdate
4:10 p.m.: Even though Echo has to knock down five percent more boss HP, they haven't let this surprising change stop them from trying to defeat Sylvanas in this ID with newly optimized tactics. However, Blizzard has something against it. After bringing Sylvanas below 50% for the first time, the Colossus add from Phase 2 now has an enrage that it didn't have before. This ruins Echo's tactics in Phase 2. Echo rightfully feels made fun of by this change - which came after 119 tries. Echo's raid leader Scripe speaks of manipulation.

Update 7/19 11:00am: Pieces is now also in the race for Sylvanas. There are currently five guilds at 9/10.

Update 7/18 10:42 p.m.: The nerd screams could already be heard in voice chat as Echo took Sylvanas to 50%. The raid was wiped out by her last attack. Was it just a delay of her death? Did the animation for the server-first achievement come delayed? No, it came in a completely different way.

Sylvanas does not need to be brought to 50% as assumed, but apparently to 45%, as was already suspected by datamaining from raider.io. This makes Sylvanas "mathematically unmanageable" in this ID and with current equipment as they say. Or is it? Shortly after this 49.6% attempt, Echo contacted Blizzard staff to see if it was a bug.

Limit was still well behind Echo in Progress at this point. When they found out about the news - which was surprising even for them - they directly organized split raids. As already predicted by the casters in the Echo stream, the advantage now lies more with Limit again. They can use the earlier reset to gather gear, tackle Sylvanas the day before Echo, and possibly get the world-first kill. Echo and Limit analysts are currently looking into how much more optimization is possible, or if it really is mathematically impossible.

However, now that other guilds have time to practice the rest of the ID on Sylvanas, there is still a chance for a surprise in the World First Race.

Update 7/18, 9:00pmAn
insane pull by Echo! They get Sylvanas down to 51.8% of her health, so they must be on the verge of victory, as the fight ends at 50% in normal and heroic modes.

Update from 18 July 2021 : We won't swear to it, but it's possible the World First Race in the Sanctuary of Domination will still be decided within the first Mythic ID. Saturday was eventful! Echo managed to be the first guild to push Mythic Kel'Thuzad onto the boards on the evening of July 17, 2021 and moved on to Sylvanas. Less than an hour later, Complexity Limit players rejoiced in their victory over the ice-cold Lich. And - surprise - BDGG aka Big Dumb Golden Guardians and formerly known as Big Dumb Guild laid Kel'Thuzad about an hour ago (08:00 our time), pushing them into 3rd place in the WFR. Incidentally, 4th place is currently lonely Method, with more than ten guilds behind them at 5/10, including Aversion and Fat Shark Yes.

Update from July 17, 5:30pm: Echo has defeated the Lich! With this World First, the European guild now has 9/10 bosses down and the Banshee Queen Sylvanas Windrunner reached.

Update as of July 17, 2021: Complexity Limit players have come out on top again, becoming the first (and so far only) guild in the world to defeat Doom Scribe Roh-Kalo at 08:30 on July 16, just before midnight our time. Four healers and two tanks were used with a slightly greater focus on ranged DPS, probably primarily so that fewer characters would be hit by the Despair cast. Congratulations, Limit, the door is open!

Hot on the heels of the US guild players are European teams Echo and Method - yes, Method has caught up now. And BDGG players have also defeated the Guardian of the First. Those three teams are now ahead of Roh-Kalo. Behind them, eight teams, including the German guild version, are still dealing with the Suffering Forger Dormazain, who has already proven to be a tough nut to crack for the other groups as well.

Day 3 in the Mythic World First Race for Sanctum of Domination again clearly shows that there are really only two guilds fighting for first place in this race. Instead of going into split runs, Echo stuck with Suffering Forge Raznal and sent him to the boards ahead of Limit. As of now, Echo and Limit are tied at 7/10, with 6 guilds at 5/10 and ten guilds at 4/10. Third place is highly contested. The German guild Aversion just holds 7th place with 5/10.

Limit seemed to take it in stride and continued to pull off the split runs. But at the latest after the rather quick kill over the Guardian of the First, Limit should have started sweating. After the win over Raznal, however, even Guardian of the First was quickly down for Limit.

For the first time in a long time, Echo is ahead of Limit in a World First race and even has an advantage on Day 3: If they were to get stuck on Doom Scribe Roh-Kalo and need more damage, they can still improve this ID via split runs, unlike Limit.

What about Team Aster.
Team Aster is the challenger from China, formed from the top guilds Alpha, JTH, and Skyline. They were able to secure the World First Sylvanas Heroic Kill. They currently stand at 4/10, needing 104 pulls for Ner'zhul. Keep in mind that China is starting one day behind the EU and two days behind the US servers.

Update 7/16 10:00am: Echo is logging in with her characters right now and doesn't seem to be going straight into the raid, but working off Torghast and other things. Limit is still dreaming of the raw kalo kill and will probably start around 5pm as usual.

alt
Update 11:35pm: Echo defeats Guardian of the First and continues to extend the lead over Limit (5/10) with 7/10 bosses.

Update 10:00pm: After a 5% attempt, Echo defeats Suffering Blacksmith Raznal and now tops the leaderboard.

Update 17:00: After a day of progression, Suffering Forger Raznal appears to be in Killrange. Echo's best try is just under 10% as of now, Limit finished the previous day's progression at around 20% and should be starting her raid tag soon.

Update 13:00: Echo is well on her way with tries under 30%, but has realized that more gear is simply needed to progress further. For Shard of Domination, it's off to normal split runs and then back to Raznal. We'll see how Limit sees this when they continue progring on Suffering Forge Raznal this afternoon.

Update 10:10am: Pieces also gets to mess with the Suffering Forge from here on out.

Update 7/15 10:00am: Limit has already made progress on Suffering Forge, bringing him to 19.84% after 123 attempts by now. Echo is currently at 38.46%.

alt
Update 7/14 13:50: EU guilds like Aversion and Echo are having no problems with the first three bosses. Echo has even defeated the remnants of Ner'zhul by now, and is now facing Soulflayer Dormazain. Now we'll see if they'll also sit on this first little Road Block as long as Limit.

EU server reset is just today. Then the EU guilds can prove whether they also send the first four bosses to the boards as easily as Limit and whether Echo and Co. might even quickly follow suit and also defeat soul shredder Dormazain. You can follow the streams of the teams and individuals on twitch.tv.
