The Helmet of Domination looks back on a long and dark history. Once this helmet was the symbol of the tyranny of the Lich King, who ruled over the Scourge. This terrible artifact held the power of death, and anyone who came into contact with this jagged crown was cursed forever. The last wearer of the Helm of Domination was Bolvar Fordragon, who succeeded Arthas on the Frost Throne as the third Lich King at the end of Wrath of the Lich King. At the beginning of WoW: Shadowlands, Sylvanas destroyed the devilish artifact and tore the veil between Azeroth and the Shadowlands.

The Crown of Will
With WoW Patch 9.2, the Primus of Maldraxxus forges the remains of the Helm of Domination into a new artifact that will protect us from the dungeon master's vicious rune magic. The gem even gets a new imposing name - the Crown of Will. The wearer of the crown is protected from the runes of domination and can challenge the dungeon master. As an important story element, the artifact gets a new model, which you can take a closer look at in the video below.

Sure, the artifact is meant to match the plain design of the creators. Instead of embellishing their creations, the First Ones focused on simple basic elements when creating. Their philosophy should now be reflected in the makeup of the new crown.

But is the new crown a successor to the iconic Lich King helmet? Some players think that the artifact is a visual downgrade for the Helm of Domination. Good thing there is a talented artist who recently presented an alternative design for the crown on the web. Illustrator Åska designed the Crown of Will more along the lines of the Helmet of Domination.

Blizzard's concept can't keep up with that!
