After the developers at Blizzard have already removed references to affected team members from their games as a result of the sexism scandal, the Achievements in World of Warcraft are now getting the chop. As a result, several achievements whose names may be considered inappropriate are now getting new names in the English language version.

No more "bros" and fat balls

The changes specifically affect the following two achievements, each of which will be renamed:

  • "My Sack is Gigantique" is called "My Storage is Gigantique" with patch 9.1.5
  • "Bros. Before Ho Ho Hos" is called "Holiday Bromance" with patch 9.1.5

That the developers are now renaming the achievements is a direct result of the team's promise to remove inappropriate, potentially sexist content from WoW (buy now €14.99 )

. The team wrote in the official announcement on July 27, 2021:

"While we look to our team for guidance in our internal work to protect minorities and hold those who threaten them accountable, we also want to act immediately to remove such innuendo in Azeroth that is not appropriate for our world. This work is already underway, and you'll see various such changes in both Shadowlands and WoW Classic in the coming days.

"

One particularly prominent example was the removal

of

the NPC Field Marshal Afrasiabi from Stormwind

. The renaming of the achievements adds to the slew of appropriate tweaks. We don't yet know if the German achievements will also receive new names. But since the German-language versions of both Achievements ("Meine Tasche ist von 'Dolce & Giganta'" as well as "Brüderliche Weihnacht") sound harmless, we don't assume a name change.Support buffed - it'll only take a minute.
