Patch 9.2 was the last major content update for WoW Shadowlands - the developers have confirmed this in several places some time ago. At the same time, it is an open secret that we will probably have to wait quite a while for the next expansion. Even optimists don't expect the expansion, which was officially announced on April 19

, to be released in 2022. Conversely, that would mean that we'll have to make do with the current content for almost a year. At least that's what we thought ... until now.

WoW (buy now ) Shadowlands gets 4th season!

Because out of nowhere the developers announced that they are planning a 4th season for WoW Shadowlands even without patch 9.3. But this season will not offer any new content like new dungeons or a new raid. Instead, the developers will take a different approach and spice up the already worn-out content with some twists.

Among other things, there will of course be new rewards and titles in PvP. But also the item level of the available equipment via the player-versus-player battle is to be raised properly, as with every new season.

For PvE players, however, the developers have come up with something different. We will get six new dungeons in the 4th season! Although these are not really new. Instead, the developers are grabbing old dungeons, scaling them up, and making them accessible for the Mythic Plus system. These are both parts of Karazhan and Mechagon. In addition, there will be two dungeons from Warlords of Draenor. It has not yet been determined which ones they will be. However, the developers have called for a vote so that the community can help decide.

Raids with affixes

The developers also plan to partially extend the Mythic-Plus dungeon system to the raids and give all Shadowlands raids a Progenitor-inspired affix.

The goal is to make all Shadowlands raids relevant again for Season 4, including tougher challenges and better loot. How exactly this will work, there was no information about it yet.

However, the developers plan to reveal more details about the systems in the near future. In addition, they have once again called for feedback. Patch 9.2 has shown quite impressively that this can help.

WoW Patch 9.2.5: What changes in the upcoming update? - Overview

Patch 9.2.5 of WoW is all about cross-faction gameplay and Season 4, but apart from that, there are many changes we have to introduce you to!

Here is the full official statement from Blizzard:

Blizzard
Now that Season 3 is well underway and players are pursuing all of the seasonal aspects of Mythic+ and competitive PvP, we'd like you to join us in considering what might come afterward. Later this year, after the current season has run for a typical duration, we're planning to conclude Season 3 and begin Shadowlands Season 4, a fresh take on what a season of WoW might include.

In Shadowlands Season 4, your PvP efforts will reward you with a new higher tier of PvP gear along with other Season rewards, such as mounts and titles. We're planning for the highest ranking title to be Eternal Gladiator, a fitting capstone for your Shadowlands PvP accomplishments.

We're excited to announce that we're going to shake things up in Mythic+ and raiding in Season 4. We'd like to change up the Mythic+ dungeon pool so that it would include 8 dungeons that span the last four expansions of WoW:

Tazavesh: Streets of WonderTazavesh
: So'leah's GambitOperation
Mechagon: JunkyardOperation
Mechagon: WorkshopReturn
to Karazhan: LowerReturn
to Karazhan: UpperAnd
two dungeons from Warlords of DraenorTo
that end, we've started a community poll where you'll help us decide which two Draenor dungeons are included in the Season 4 Mythic+ rotation

.

You can click here to vote to select two dungeons from among: Auchindoun, Bloodmaul Slag Mines, Everbloom, Grimrail Depot, Shadowmoon Burial Grounds, Skyreach, and Upper Blackrock Spire.

For Season 4 raiding, we're imagining adding a progenitor-themed affix system to infuse some new mechanical twists into Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones. Our intention here would be to make all three raids relevant in Season 4, with increased difficulty and more powerful levels of raid loot dropping throughout all of them.
Feel free to reply here and let us know what you think of these experiments, and we'll have more details on all of this for you soon. Also, please vote for your preferred Warlords of Draenor dungeons.
Thank you!
