When those responsible at Blizzard announced WoW (buy now €14.99 ) Classic, they promised us the most authentic reworking of the vanilla game feeling possible. In the official FAQ, it was therefore later stated:

"World of Warcraft Classic is a faithful recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game - from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones - have been recreated to contribute to the authentic experience."

Early on, the developers therefore also made it clear that the WoW brand, which has been available in retail WoW for a long time, will not be offered in WoW Classic. Here is an excerpt from the FAQ as well:

Q: Can I use WoW Tokens in WoW Classic?
A: WoW Tokens cannot be bought or sold in WoW Classic. However, you can buy and sell them in World of Warcraft to use for your game time.

However, at least for the Chinese market, there seems to have been a rethink on this matter. Because on the Chinese official website of World of Warcraft, those responsible at Blizzard recently announced surprisingly (via Wowhead) that the WoW brand will appear for the version of WoW Classic available there. Whether this service will also come to the US or EU regions is unclear so far.

What

is clear, however, is that many Western players already fear the worst and are clearly voicing their opposition to the introduction of the WoW Trademark in WoW Classic (example 1: Reddit, example 2: Official Forum).

The reason is obvious: In contrast to Battle for Azeroth, gold is a much more important or valuable resource in WoW Classic. The possibility of obtaining gold by buying the WoW token would hit the in-game economy even more drastically than it did at the time of its introduction in retail WoW - we followed the evolution from the price of the WoW token in this article. And back then, there were already players firing Pay2Win accusations towards Blizzard. If WoW Classic also receives the WoW brand in this country, these accusations would only get louder.

So we see this critically. How do you see the matter? Would you welcome or strongly criticize the introduction of the WoW brand in Classic? Tell us in the comments!
